Art print framing guide.

Once you’ve chosen your perfect art print it’s time to find a frame to match!

All art prints are offered in easy to frame ‘A’ sizes and so your art print will happily fit into any frame of your chosen size.

If you’re looking for a few suggestions, I’ve put this framing guide together to help you.

A note on mounts: You don’t need to add a mount to your frame if you don’t wish, all art prints include a white border so can be displayed with or without an additional mount, however you prefer.

1. Your local framer.

A great option if you have a specific frame style in mind. Your local frame shop will be able to provide you with lots of frame styles, advice and should provide a professional finish to your art prints.

For original artwork I always say that your local framer is the best option as they can properly seal the frame to protect a painting.

2. A simple modern frame.

For a simple modern frame with an elegantly thin finish, I would recommend Neilsen Alpha frames.

These frames are beautifully crafted in aluminium with real wood veneer and glass. You can find them in all the standard ‘A’ sizes and I personally love the Wenge colour option* (as shown in the picture).

* These are the frames I use in my product images!

Find this frame over at Neilsen shop.

Framed art print featuring an illustration of a woodpecker surrounded by autumn leaves and acorns, displayed in a light oak frame with a white mount against a white wall.

3. A natural oak frame.

For a more traditional natural wood finish, I would recommend these solid oak frames from Wall Space, again available in standard ‘A’ sizes.

Find this frame over at Wall Space.

4. A custom made frame.

If you want a fully customised frame then eFrame provide hundreds of options so you can find exactly the style you’re looking for, available with or without a mount.

Go to eFrame's website.

Framing your art print with a mount.

All art prints include a white border so can be framed without a mount. However if you do wish to include a mount all you need is to purchase a slightly larger frame than the art print size and purchase a mount to fit.

You can order a custom-made mount over at eFrame in a range of colours (I personally go for off-white, but you can get quite creative!). Just specify the size of your frame and the size of your art print to get the perfect fit.

Based in the US?

If you’re ordering from the US, then you could look at Art to Frame which offer a range of custom-made frames in a huge range of styles and sizes which will perfectly fit your art print. All their frames are made in and shipped from the US.

Framing FAQ's

What are the art print sizes in mm and inches?
  • A4 is 210 x 297 mm | 8.3 x 11.7 inches
  • A3 is 297 x 420 mm | 11.7 x 16.5 inches
  • A2 is 420 x 594 mm | 16.5 x 23.4 inches

Should I frame my print with or without a mount?

It's all down to personal preference! Art prints include a white border so can be displayed with or without an additional mount.
